 Conditional type 1



Form :

In a type 1 Conditional sentence, the tense in If clause is the simple present, and the tense in the main clause is the simple future.



If clause (Condition)     |     main clause (Result)


  If + simpl present,                Simpl future.

  If it rains                                you will get wet.

  If you don't hurry                 you will miss the train.

 

Function:

In type 1 Conditional the time is the present or future, and the situation is real .

They refer to a possible condition and its probable result. They are based on facts, and they are used to make statements about the real world, and about particular situations,.

We often use such sentences to give warnings.

 

Examples:


   If you don't leave, I will cal the police.

   If you don't drop the gun, I'll shoot!.

   If you drop the glass, it will break.

   Nobody will notice if you make a mistake.

   What will you do if you miss the plane?

Of certainty of the result:



Examples:

   If you drop the glass, it might break.

   I may finish that later if I have time.

  The Zero Conditional    1- Form In "Zero" conditional sentences, the tense in both parts of the sentence is in the present simple : If clause "Condition" |  Main clause "Result"    If + simpl present,            Simple present.     If you heat ice,                 It melts.    If it rains,                          You get wet.
